Albert left the family business in 1898 and started his own tuckpointing and plastering business. Later, he went into whitewashing, a popular form of decorating at the turn of the century before the advent of a multitude of paint products which we now enjoy. Hence the nickname, “Uncle Albert, the Whitener”. He must have been quite a politician, as he not only did work in homes, he had city contracts for public buildings. His office was in the half-basement and his big roll-top desk was right below the window at 1317 North Twentieth Street.
Albert Weber married Francis Hackmann (1864-1942) and they lived at 1317 North Twentieth Street. They did not have any children. He was a member of the Masonic Order, the Grotto and Knights of Pythias.
